Barr Trail

Beautiful trail with beautiful views!

Pikes Peak or Bust!

Use of Trail: Hiking / Biking

Length of Trail: 26.2 Miles Roundtrip

Elevation Gain: 7,500 Ft. Gain

Difficulty: Difficult

A popular 26-miles heavily-trafficked out-and-back trail starting in Manitou Springs to the top of Pikes Peak. Recommended for experienced backcountry adventurers or those prepared for an overnight trip. Hike April through October. Bicycles and dogs on leash are okay. This is the same trail followed by the Pikes Peak Ascent and Marathon. Overnighters reserve a spot at Barr Camp, a 6.5-mile hike from Manitou Springs, or about the halfway mark to the summit of Pikes Peak.

Trailhead Directions: Travel west on Highway 24 for 4 miles to Manitou Avenue exit. Turn right onto Manitou Avenue and proceed for 3 miles to Ruxton Avenue at the traffic circle. Proceed about 0.8 miles along Ruxton Avenue Hydro Street. Turn right onto Hydro Street and proceed to its end at the Barr Trail parking lot. You must pay $25 for all-day parking, but space is very limited. For more information and to make reservations for Barr Camp, please go to www.barrcamp.com.

A wonderful place with tons of interesting bits of history to see. Great for the townfolk who lived it, and wonderful for out-of-town visitors who wish to know more about the community.

Ethan and Victoria were the best tour guides ever! First Victoria led us through the Manitou Grand Caverns on the haunted lantern tour. She told us all about the history of the caves with such infectious enthusiasm that you almost felt like you were part of the story! She truly loves her job! The tour was so cool and even pretty scary at parts. I would definitely recommend it. We next had the pleasure of having Ethan guide us through the discovery tour. His personality and sense of humor had us cracking up as he led us through the beautiful Cave of the Winds! My pictures don’t do it justice so you’ll just have to go see for yourself and definitely request Victoria and Ethan as your tour guides. You won’t regret it!

This museum I at first thought was going to be a small town feel museum, but it exceeded my expectations! I enjoyed the guided adult tour, the tour guide was awesome! The museum was very unique and interesting and the machines actually work which is shocking and cool! I will definitely tell everyone I know to go to this museum!
