Ambler Flatwoods Nature Preserve is a 521-acre sanctuary located just east of Michigan City, Indiana, managed by the Shirley Heinze Land Trust.This preserve offers a rare glimpse into a boreal flatwoods ecosystem, characterized by its flat, wet terrain and unique biodiversity.It’s one of the few places in Indiana where such a community is found, making it a valuable site for nature enthusiasts and researchers alike.

Hours: Open daily from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM

Trail Length: 4 miles

Entrance Cost: Free

Parking: Two gravel lots, a large one off of Meer Rd. and a small one off of Freyer Rd./900 North

Dog-Friendly: Dogs are allowed but must be leashed at all times
